Gershon Psychological Associates, LLC is a large-group
mental health practice, based in Rhode
Island. Our group includes psychologists,
neuropsychologists, school psychologists, social workers, and mental health
counselors. We have three convenient locations including Warwick, Smithfield,
and Providence, Rhode Island. Our staff works with a wide range of ages from
preschool to geriatrics.
At Gershon Psychological Associates, we recognize that access to mental health services can take time, especially for children. As a result, we strive to schedule new patients as quickly as possible to start the evaluation and treatment process. We will try to give you an initial appointment within a week. Our office staff can help you with scheduling and checking on your insurance benefits. We will also match you with the best clinician for your particular needs.
Our clinicians treat individuals of all ages for a wide variety of concerns. We offer numerous modes of treatment including Individual Therapy (children, adolescents, and adults), Family Therapy, Couples Counseling, and Group Therapy on an on demand basis.
Psychological evaluations are a large component of our practice as well. These include neuropsychological, psychological, and educational evaluations. Brief diagnostic screenings are also available. We coordinate care with school departments and physicians to make sure your treatment plan is implemented properly.
Our Early Childhood Team focuses on testing and counseling for your children (ages 3-8) and support for their parents. We can conduct psychological evaluation for these young children and provide appropriate recommendations and treatment options.
In addition, we provide psychological evaluations for individuals pursuing bariatric surgery. We work very closely with the surgical groups who provide this intervention and conduct the tests in a prompt and professional manner. We follow guidelines set forth by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. We also offer counseling related to bariatric surgery.
A newer specialty is our Law Enforcement Team. This group helps applicant who are pursuing law enforcement careers and may need a psychological evaluation as part of the hiring process. We can also offer fitness for duty evaluations for these individuals and counseling.
Our office treats a wide variety of concerns including
attentional or behavior problems, mood issues, anxiety, self-esteem, grief,
relationships, social skills, phobias, school problems, and parenting.
Diagnoses that we commonly treat are Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Conduct Disorder, Specific
Phobias, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive
Disorder, individuals with high functioning Asperger's Disorder and/or with
Nonverbal Learning Disability, Social Anxiety or Social Phobia, and
